A Few Things

So I havent been on here in a while what can i say......I've just gotten caught up in the life of being a mother. LOL! It all started when my 3yr got a nasty stomach virus. That thing lasted way to long. Every time we thought that was the last time he was gonna puke here came somemore. I got puked on so much along with my bed and his bed. I did at least 4 loads of laundry a day. It lasted about 5 days. Then when he got over it we had 2 days that everything was back to normal and then my mother got it. We are living with my parents right now and my mother is retired, so she takes care of my son during the day. So with her out of commission, I had to stay home and take care of her and B. More puke, more washing. This was last month and I kid you not I think the whole thing lasted about 4 weeks. How in the world I didnt get it is beyond me. I'm just so thankful that It passed me.

So during this time B's birthday was coming up. It just snuck up on me and I didnt have time to plan a party and sent out invites and such. So we just did a little trip to Chucky Cheese on Saturday just he and I. Then went to the toy store and he picked out a couple of toys. Then on Sunday we had him and my Grandmother a birthday party there. His birthday is the 21st and hers is the 22nd. He had a great time even though we didnt have a great big party. I figure next year he turns the big "5" and we will have a big bash then.

We've also started T-Ball. It for the 3-4 year olds and is to funny to watch. B has really improved with each practice we've gone to. The favorite part for all the kids is playing in the dirt. Here is a picture of B catching the ball. He has a mean over hand throw as well. I will be posting much more about our T-ball adventures in the future. We are just getting started and have a 9 game season!
I've also been buying some more stuff. LOL! I know I dont have a house but that is not gonna stop me. My dad said i couldn't possably fit anymore stuff into my room. I think that was his polite way of saying "NO MORE" dont worry dad we are already planning a yard sale soon. But when I saw this dresser I just had to have it. I had been looking for one for several years and while I have found plenty that were beautiful this is the one that I knew I had to have. It is from England and I even found some coins with the queen on them. I thought I had a picture on my computer of it but i guess not. so i will have to put one on here tomorrow. So with that i will go now and get back to work. ~Emily

The Cowboy Room

I have been working on my son a "big boy room" for a while. We had a frog theme for his nursery and I loved it. Then we sold our house and moved in with my Parents while we were going to build our house. Well things happen and My husband and I got divorced. B and I ended up staying here with my parents because they have more than enough room and it's just a whole lot more convenient. Anyway the room my son had was my brothers room. My brother is in the Navy and lives in San Diego. Anyway for B's room we had just really stuck his furniture and toys in and left it. I finally decided that we were going to be here for a while and I should go ahead and make him a fun room.

A couple of years ago we went on a ski trip to Jackson Hole, WY and the town inspired me. It's a real cowboy town. they had the cutest cowboy stuff everywhere. When we got home I talked to my bff Trish and told her about it. She said that she had just bought some cowboy wallpaper at a Waverly outlet store that was going out of business. She had bought a lot of it and that i could have some. It's too busy to do all the walls so I only did one wall and painted the rest. This is his bed I used a solid navy colored quilt with matching shams. The Cowboy sheets I found recently at Target and then I made the bandanna pillows myself. I just got the horse pillow and I love it. It's like a hooked rug with velvet on the back. This is the only wall with the wallpaper. I took this photo on Saturday morning and the beautiful sun was shinning bright so I had to close the blinds. This is his night stand. I just love the cowboy lamp. I saw it on that show new adventures of old Christine, her little boy had it in his room. Well i got on eBay and found one for very cheap, I was shocked. He also just had to get an alarm clock the old kind with the LOUD bells. He is 3 1/2 where is he going????

This is the book shelf i just got. I thought about painting it because it's kind of rough and the finish is coming off but I like it just the way it is kind of rustic for that cowboy look. The lamp I got at one of the "dollar" store here in town and the painting i found at the thrift store. The Indian chief was painted by my brother when we were kids it's probably about 30 years old along with the bedroom furniture it's his too.

This is at the end of the room opposite of the bed. This is a dormer window. I decided to make it into a little reading nook/club house. He really likes having this space and closing the curtains.

This is his dresser. He loves lanterns right now and has a good start on a collection. Notice the Indian and the lamp i just moved them around as I took the photos LOL.

Last but not least is his bathroom. I really didn't do much in here. I found the rug at one of the "dollar" stores here I thought it would be perfect for the cowboy look. Also the towel ring I found at Hobby Lobby. I think I paid 1.49 for it. I'm still looking for some curtains. The bamboo blinds that are up really are crappy and they really don't give a lot of privacy but they work for now and I think they match the room. So hope you have enjoyed the tour of my son's cowboy room.

Time alone

My parents have left to go on vacation for a whopping 10 days. I'm so excited that i have some time to myself. Breckin is home with me but that is how i like it. Last night was kind of cold and he snuggled up next to me all night. I love waking up and having him hugging on me. I looovvve itt!!! My baby boy has been having a hard time this winter. He has asthma and has the peanut allergy among other outdoor and house hold allergies. He can be sitting beside me and you can hear him wheezing really loud. He is on 3 medications daily singular, Zyrtec, and a nasal spray. Then there is the benidryl and asthma medicines such as albutrol, oral pred, and breathing treatments that we can do. We are going back to the allergist next week because what we have him on right now just isn't working for him. He needs something stronger. I feel so bad when he wakes up coughing so bad in the middle of the night, that he cant even get his breath. So I'm really looking forward to going to the Dr.

Another thing is the "Peanut Allergy" as my mom calls it. I'm not sure if it's actually called the "Peanut Allergy" or not but I always think it's funny that she refers to it as that. " he has the Peanut Allergy"LOL! Anyway it is so hard to always be on the lookout for peanuts. One time we went into Sam's club and somehow he got into peanuts there and we had to go to the ER. Another time I had bought Wal-mart brand mac and cheese. He had taken probably 3 bites and I decided to look on the box for the allergy info, as of 01/07 all food packages are suppose to have allergy info list under all the ingredients in the food, and noticed that it said it was processed on equipment that also handles peanuts. I thought surly mac and cheese wouldn't have peanuts in it. Maybe they are just being extra careful in their labeling. No 10 minutes later B's throat had closed up and he could barely breathe. So we did the drill, Benidryl, oral pred, and a breathing treatment. Luckily this time after doing all this he was better and we didn't have to go to the ER.

Just a few things.

This is another after photo of the bathroom. This one shows the tile around the tub much better than the one's before. This weekend we really didn't do anything. Friday I went and picked up my embroidery machine and haven't even got to try it out to see if it's working correctly. My parents are leaving Sunday morning to go to Ireland with their friends. That leaves me at home all day by myself. This rarely happens and I got to say I really excited about it. Breckin will be with his dad this weekend and hopefully I will be able to get some stuff done. I had talked to a lady in town that has the cutest store, Vintage accents. I would love to have this store! She said she was interested in some of my Baby blankets and bibs and stuff to sell there. So I really need to sew like a mad woman and get my stuff down there. Well i better get to work, since I am here! Ha! later girls!

Just checking in.

I have been looking at alot of other bloggs and I'm in love with Nester. She makes what she calls Window mis-treatments. I guess that's what you could call my window treatment on my first post. I got a 7 dollar rod from the dollar store and the fabric is just sewen a little to put the rod through and I didnt hem it. But the rest is just pinned and held up with the ribbon. But one thing that I like about Nester's blog is she said she never cuts her fabrics. she just plays around with them till she gets them the way she wants it to look. Then when she moves or takes that one down she can use the fabric for something else because she didnt cut it. I like that.

After

Before

this is a picture of the living room before. The walls I think were painted a very light blue. One cool thing about the walls were they had put paintable wallpaper up. It was embossed with a design and after we painted it a color that we liked it looked awesome. Notice the pink carpet, it was the first to go. While we were pulling up the carpet we found a really dark stain on the carpet padding, then we pulled the padding up there was blood on the hard wood floors. I just know that some one got the ax there or something. Anyway we just tried to forget it and go on. I never did find out what happened. And the house never felt haunted or anything so I guess everything was ok. Also look here at the windows. In typical old lady style she had every window covered like light was going to come through them. She had mini blinds, blackout shades, sheers, and then curtains. It was like this on every window in the house. That was the second thing that got tore out.

A Little House Redo....

before after

This is a photo of the one and only bath before. The house was owned by a little lady who had passed away. So everything was pretty much little old ladyish. The bath room was pastel colors, the wallpaper reminds me of something in a Florida condo in the 80's. Ugly brown floor and some kind of plastic shower surround that they had painted over. Because of this it bubbled and peeled off after a couple of showers. yuck! It was messy. The second photo is the after of the bath. With the new tile that I picked out to go with the 1920's bungalow. We tiled around the tub and peeled that awful wallpaper off the wall. By the way. While peeling the wallpaper off plaster walls. It also peeled the smooth part of the plaster off. So I had to use textured paint, which is basically pouring sand into paint. It work fairly well better than re-spackling the whole room.
