Vacay 2009

We just got back from the beach, we went to New Smyrna Beach, FL and had the best relaxing time. Here are a few pics of all the fun......

.. this is us eating at the Garlic Resturant. It is soooooo good. We went last year to eat here but they said they cooked in peanut oil. B has the Peanut allergy and we can not eat anywhere they cook in peanut oil. So we had to pass it up. We ate there the year before but that was before we knew about the allergy and he was so little he just ate baby food anyway. We were excited this year to find out they had changed what they cook in. We called before hand to ask and then asked again when we got there.

this is some of their decor lots of pretty pottery around.

this is outside of the resturant it was so pretty and like a jungle as B said. I will post more photos of the beach latere. Blogger is killing me upload photos.

So these are my latest creations. I call them sock dollies. They are made out of what else socks and then I emborder by hand their sweet sleepy faces. The dollie on the right's apron is made out of an old hankerchief and the other is made out of some old dresser scarf. The hats are made out of other socks. I used felt for one's rosey cheeks. These are the first two I have made and plan on making more for shower gifts. I'm gonna try and work on a boy version. My son is 4 and he does NOT like these dolls for some reason. Oh well they werent meant for little boys!
Enjoy Emily~

Houses

I'm in the house hunting mood again. I want an old house, I just think they have character and are much more interesting than these new cookie cuter homes now days. I've found a couple that are for sale right now that I would LOVE to have.

I'm loving this style house right now. Love the A in the front with the curved doors. The mailbox even matches.

I love all the arched doors and windows. This is what I love about old houses.

This is another one I love.

Look at that kitchen! I love the red reto appliances.

This next one is my current love. If I could make the payments I would buy this house today for the full asking price. I would just up and move and not think twice.

I think with some flowers and plants it would a lot less blah. Just imagine having parties on that porch. Maybe even hanging up some curtains to soften everything.
Gorgouse wooden stairs and hardwood floors.
Look at this beautiful door!

They have updated the kitchen and I think it still matching the age of the house. I hate it when they redo the kitchen and it doesnt go with the house at all.

This is one of the awesome bathrooms. I love the fact that they kept all the orginal tile. Just look at the aqua tile heavenly~

This is one of the bedrooms downstairs with a sitting room off to the side. Just look at the little sitting room and the window.

Bad News and Good News......I guess.

Well of course on the morning of Monday April 20th I was on my way to work. It had been raining and the roads were wet. I was on the mountain about to go off when I went around a curve, not a sharp curve but when I went around I started sliding and then hydro-planed. I was going off to the right which remember I'm on the mountain, and it was a straight drop off. I turned the wheel to the left and slammed on the brakes. Well that just sent me sliding even faster over to the left. On the left was a deep ditch and then it went straight up cause it's the mountain. I thought I would just plow into the ditch and I would stop. Oh no I hit the ditch and flipped twice and finally stopped when little pine trees got to big to be torn out with the car. I'm OK and it totalled my car. I had to go to the ER because I had horrible pain coming from my left hip area. I tried to put weight on my left leg but it hurt too bad. So I find out I have 2 fractures on my pelvis and have to be on crutches for 6 + weeks. I can put any weight on my left leg or it would brake the fractures. At least i didn't have to have surgery It could have been so much worse. They said the side curtain air bag was what saved me and they fact that I had my seat belt on.

So the good news is that this is week 8 I'm finally crutch free. I have 6 weeks of therapy twice a week now but that is ok. The car got totalled out I lucky had the gap insurance and it paid off the car totally. When I bought the car I had to put the remainder of another car on that loan which made my payments higher but that's what I had to do at the time. Now everything was paid off.
I wanted a VW Passat but thought I wouldn't be able to afford it. I went and looked and they had 0% financing so even though I have a more expensive car my car payments are like 100 bucks cheaper. I'm so happy. I love my new passat. I had a jetta a couple of years ago and loved it. and always said I would have a passat one day and now I do. So I had a bad wreck got hurt, but I'm ok, and got to get a car I've always wanted with a cheaper payment.

A Few Things

So I havent been on here in a while what can i say......I've just gotten caught up in the life of being a mother. LOL! It all started when my 3yr got a nasty stomach virus. That thing lasted way to long. Every time we thought that was the last time he was gonna puke here came somemore. I got puked on so much along with my bed and his bed. I did at least 4 loads of laundry a day. It lasted about 5 days. Then when he got over it we had 2 days that everything was back to normal and then my mother got it. We are living with my parents right now and my mother is retired, so she takes care of my son during the day. So with her out of commission, I had to stay home and take care of her and B. More puke, more washing. This was last month and I kid you not I think the whole thing lasted about 4 weeks. How in the world I didnt get it is beyond me. I'm just so thankful that It passed me.

So during this time B's birthday was coming up. It just snuck up on me and I didnt have time to plan a party and sent out invites and such. So we just did a little trip to Chucky Cheese on Saturday just he and I. Then went to the toy store and he picked out a couple of toys. Then on Sunday we had him and my Grandmother a birthday party there. His birthday is the 21st and hers is the 22nd. He had a great time even though we didnt have a great big party. I figure next year he turns the big "5" and we will have a big bash then.

We've also started T-Ball. It for the 3-4 year olds and is to funny to watch. B has really improved with each practice we've gone to. The favorite part for all the kids is playing in the dirt. Here is a picture of B catching the ball. He has a mean over hand throw as well. I will be posting much more about our T-ball adventures in the future. We are just getting started and have a 9 game season!
I've also been buying some more stuff. LOL! I know I dont have a house but that is not gonna stop me. My dad said i couldn't possably fit anymore stuff into my room. I think that was his polite way of saying "NO MORE" dont worry dad we are already planning a yard sale soon. But when I saw this dresser I just had to have it. I had been looking for one for several years and while I have found plenty that were beautiful this is the one that I knew I had to have. It is from England and I even found some coins with the queen on them. I thought I had a picture on my computer of it but i guess not. so i will have to put one on here tomorrow. So with that i will go now and get back to work. ~Emily

The Cowboy Room

I have been working on my son a "big boy room" for a while. We had a frog theme for his nursery and I loved it. Then we sold our house and moved in with my Parents while we were going to build our house. Well things happen and My husband and I got divorced. B and I ended up staying here with my parents because they have more than enough room and it's just a whole lot more convenient. Anyway the room my son had was my brothers room. My brother is in the Navy and lives in San Diego. Anyway for B's room we had just really stuck his furniture and toys in and left it. I finally decided that we were going to be here for a while and I should go ahead and make him a fun room.

A couple of years ago we went on a ski trip to Jackson Hole, WY and the town inspired me. It's a real cowboy town. they had the cutest cowboy stuff everywhere. When we got home I talked to my bff Trish and told her about it. She said that she had just bought some cowboy wallpaper at a Waverly outlet store that was going out of business. She had bought a lot of it and that i could have some. It's too busy to do all the walls so I only did one wall and painted the rest. This is his bed I used a solid navy colored quilt with matching shams. The Cowboy sheets I found recently at Target and then I made the bandanna pillows myself. I just got the horse pillow and I love it. It's like a hooked rug with velvet on the back. This is the only wall with the wallpaper. I took this photo on Saturday morning and the beautiful sun was shinning bright so I had to close the blinds. This is his night stand. I just love the cowboy lamp. I saw it on that show new adventures of old Christine, her little boy had it in his room. Well i got on eBay and found one for very cheap, I was shocked. He also just had to get an alarm clock the old kind with the LOUD bells. He is 3 1/2 where is he going????

This is the book shelf i just got. I thought about painting it because it's kind of rough and the finish is coming off but I like it just the way it is kind of rustic for that cowboy look. The lamp I got at one of the "dollar" store here in town and the painting i found at the thrift store. The Indian chief was painted by my brother when we were kids it's probably about 30 years old along with the bedroom furniture it's his too.

This is at the end of the room opposite of the bed. This is a dormer window. I decided to make it into a little reading nook/club house. He really likes having this space and closing the curtains.

This is his dresser. He loves lanterns right now and has a good start on a collection. Notice the Indian and the lamp i just moved them around as I took the photos LOL.

Last but not least is his bathroom. I really didn't do much in here. I found the rug at one of the "dollar" stores here I thought it would be perfect for the cowboy look. Also the towel ring I found at Hobby Lobby. I think I paid 1.49 for it. I'm still looking for some curtains. The bamboo blinds that are up really are crappy and they really don't give a lot of privacy but they work for now and I think they match the room. So hope you have enjoyed the tour of my son's cowboy room.

Time alone

My parents have left to go on vacation for a whopping 10 days. I'm so excited that i have some time to myself. Breckin is home with me but that is how i like it. Last night was kind of cold and he snuggled up next to me all night. I love waking up and having him hugging on me. I looovvve itt!!! My baby boy has been having a hard time this winter. He has asthma and has the peanut allergy among other outdoor and house hold allergies. He can be sitting beside me and you can hear him wheezing really loud. He is on 3 medications daily singular, Zyrtec, and a nasal spray. Then there is the benidryl and asthma medicines such as albutrol, oral pred, and breathing treatments that we can do. We are going back to the allergist next week because what we have him on right now just isn't working for him. He needs something stronger. I feel so bad when he wakes up coughing so bad in the middle of the night, that he cant even get his breath. So I'm really looking forward to going to the Dr.

Another thing is the "Peanut Allergy" as my mom calls it. I'm not sure if it's actually called the "Peanut Allergy" or not but I always think it's funny that she refers to it as that. " he has the Peanut Allergy"LOL! Anyway it is so hard to always be on the lookout for peanuts. One time we went into Sam's club and somehow he got into peanuts there and we had to go to the ER. Another time I had bought Wal-mart brand mac and cheese. He had taken probably 3 bites and I decided to look on the box for the allergy info, as of 01/07 all food packages are suppose to have allergy info list under all the ingredients in the food, and noticed that it said it was processed on equipment that also handles peanuts. I thought surly mac and cheese wouldn't have peanuts in it. Maybe they are just being extra careful in their labeling. No 10 minutes later B's throat had closed up and he could barely breathe. So we did the drill, Benidryl, oral pred, and a breathing treatment. Luckily this time after doing all this he was better and we didn't have to go to the ER.
