this is us eating at the Garlic Resturant. It is soooooo good. We went last year to eat here but they said they cooked in peanut oil. B has the Peanut allergy and we can not eat anywhere they cook in peanut oil. So we had to pass it up. We ate there the year before but that was before we knew about the allergy and he was so little he just ate baby food anyway. We were excited this year to find out they had changed what they cook in. We called before hand to ask and then asked again when we got there. Thursday, July 30, 2009

So these are my latest creations. I call them sock dollies. They are made out of what else socks and then I emborder by hand their sweet sleepy faces. The dollie on the right's apron is made out of an old hankerchief and the other is made out of some old dresser scarf. The hats are made out of other socks. I used felt for one's rosey cheeks. These are the first two I have made and plan on making more for shower gifts. I'm gonna try and work on a boy version. My son is 4 and he does NOT like these dolls for some reason. Oh well they werent meant for little boys!
Enjoy Emily~

Houses
I'm loving this style house right now. Love the A in the front with the curved doors. The mailbox even matches.
I think with some flowers and plants it would a lot less blah. Just imagine having parties on that porch. Maybe even hanging up some curtains to soften everything.
Gorgouse wooden stairs and hardwood floors. They have updated the kitchen and I think it still matching the age of the house. I hate it when they redo the kitchen and it doesnt go with the house at all.

The Cowboy Room
This is his bed I used a solid navy colored quilt with matching shams. The Cowboy sheets I found recently at Target and then I made the bandanna pillows myself. I just got the horse pillow and I love it. It's like a hooked rug with velvet on the back. This is the only wall with the wallpaper. I took this photo on Saturday morning and the beautiful sun was shinning bright so I had to close the blinds.
This is his night stand. I just love the cowboy lamp. I saw it on that show new adventures of old Christine, her little boy had it in his room. Well i got on eBay and found one for very cheap, I was shocked. He also just had to get an alarm clock the old kind with the LOUD bells. He is 3 1/2 where is he going????
This is the book shelf i just got. I thought about painting it because it's kind of rough and the finish is coming off but I like it just the way it is kind of rustic for that cowboy look. The lamp I got at one of the "dollar" store here in town and the painting i found at the thrift store. The Indian chief was painted by my brother when we were kids it's probably about 30 years old along with the bedroom furniture it's his too.
This is at the end of the room opposite of the bed. This is a dormer window. I decided to make it into a little reading nook/club house. He really likes having this space and closing the curtains.
This is his dresser. He loves lanterns right now and has a good start on a collection. Notice the Indian and the lamp i just moved them around as I took the photos LOL.
Last but not least is his bathroom. I really didn't do much in here. I found the rug at one of the "dollar" stores here I thought it would be perfect for the cowboy look. Also the towel ring I found at Hobby Lobby. I think I paid 1.49 for it. I'm still looking for some curtains. The bamboo blinds that are up really are crappy and they really don't give a lot of privacy but they work for now and I think they match the room. So hope you have enjoyed the tour of my son's cowboy room.Posted by The Stork's Nest at 5:44 AM 0 comments

Time alone
Another thing is the "Peanut Allergy" as my mom calls it. I'm not sure if it's actually called the "Peanut Allergy" or not but I always think it's funny that she refers to it as that. " he has the Peanut Allergy"LOL! Anyway it is so hard to always be on the lookout for peanuts. One time we went into Sam's club and somehow he got into peanuts there and we had to go to the ER. Another time I had bought Wal-mart brand mac and cheese. He had taken probably 3 bites and I decided to look on the box for the allergy info, as of 01/07 all food packages are suppose to have allergy info list under all the ingredients in the food, and noticed that it said it was processed on equipment that also handles peanuts. I thought surly mac and cheese wouldn't have peanuts in it. Maybe they are just being extra careful in their labeling. No 10 minutes later B's throat had closed up and he could barely breathe. So we did the drill, Benidryl, oral pred, and a breathing treatment. Luckily this time after doing all this he was better and we didn't have to go to the ER.

Just a few things.
This is another after photo of the bathroom. This one shows the tile around the tub much better than the one's before. This weekend we really didn't do anything. Friday I went and picked up my embroidery machine and haven't even got to try it out to see if it's working correctly. My parents are leaving Sunday morning to go to Ireland with their friends. That leaves me at home all day by myself. This rarely happens and I got to say I really excited about it. Breckin will be with his dad this weekend and hopefully I will be able to get some stuff done. I had talked to a lady in town that has the cutest store, Vintage accents. I would love to have this store! She said she was interested in some of my Baby blankets and bibs and stuff to sell there. So I really need to sew like a mad woman and get my stuff down there. Well i better get to work, since I am here! Ha! later girls!

Just checking in.
I have been looking at alot of other bloggs and I'm in love with Nester. She makes what she calls Window mis-treatments. I guess that's what you could call my window treatment on my first post. I got a 7 dollar rod from the dollar store and the fabric is just sewen a little to put the rod through and I didnt hem it. But the rest is just pinned and held up with the ribbon. But one thing that I like about Nester's blog is she said she never cuts her fabrics. she just plays around with them till she gets them the way she wants it to look. Then when she moves or takes that one down she can use the fabric for something else because she didnt cut it. I like that.

A Little House Redo....
before after
This is a photo of the one and only bath before. The house was owned by a little lady who had passed away. So everything was pretty much little old ladyish. The bath room was pastel colors, the wallpaper reminds me of something in a Florida condo in the 80's. Ugly brown floor and some kind of plastic shower surround that they had painted over. Because of this it bubbled and peeled off after a couple of showers. yuck! It was messy. The second photo is the after of the bath. With the new tile that I picked out to go with the 1920's bungalow. We tiled around the tub and peeled that awful wallpaper off the wall. By the way. While peeling the wallpaper off plaster walls. It also peeled the smooth part of the plaster off. So I had to use textured paint, which is basically pouring sand into paint. It work fairly well better than re-spackling the whole room.
